There are 16 playable characters in Mush. Each of the characters have

• 5-6 Skills,
• An objective to gain , and
• Unique special Traits (note that Titles are not character-, but hierarchy-bound; only their first carriers are noted on this page)

Although the overall objective of the game is the same, the gameplay will be different depending on the strengths and weaknesses of each character.

Eleesha Williams

Main article: Eleesha Williams.

Former investigative journalist, her goal is to contact any rebel bases still operating. One of the most observant crewmembers, she is as brilliant as she is honest, but don't worry – that can be cured!

Objective : "Rebel Networks" - Contact the Rebel Bases (+2 per base)
Trait : Chronic Vertigo (starts with Vertigo status, can be cured by a Shrink)

Eleesha Williams

Skill	Description
Tracker	The tracker can see the comings and going of every team member. Furthermore, they can print any research results during the game via the Tabulatrix. This provides a list of players of which at least one is Mush. Can access the registry's history for 16 cycles(instead of 8). Can see where crew members come from and where they go in the registry. Allows printing THE secret list using the Tabulatrix. Expedition: Prevents the Death event when searching for missing crew members.
Determined	Once they begin their task, nothing can distract the determined player If an action fails, the % chance of subsequent success increases more rapidly
Observant	You use 1 less to discover hidden objects. You have a 25% chance of detecting covert activity in the room you are in. The Search action costs 1 less. You have a 25% chance of detecting covert activity in your room.
IT Expert	The IT Expert is at home as soon as they are in front of a screen. They manipulate the nexus, navigation and communications terminals with ease. +2 per day (IT Action Points). Bonus for developing certain NERON projects. Chances of success are improved with the Hacker Kit
Technician	Qualified to repair materials, equipment and the hull of the Daedalus. +1 (Repair Action Point) per day. Chance of success on Repairs doubled. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects. Can reinforce and dismantle objects

Finola Keegan

Main article: Finola Keegan.

A doctor of both medicine and biology, Finola's life's work revolves around making the world a better place. Her research and healing skills make her invaluable on board.

Objective : "Mush Specialist" - Finola earns +3 for every completed piece of Mush research.
Trait : Germaphobe (loses 1 per cycle if Dirty, and cannot caress [[NPCs#Schrödinger|Schrödinger}})

Finola Keegan

Skill	Description
Biologist	Highly skilled in laboratory research. Can read properties of medicines. +4% bonus on all Research in the laboratory. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects.
Medic	Medics have full medical training, allowing them to carry out rapid, appropriate procedures. They are also skilled in surgery Heal actions earn an additional 2 . Can carry out Operations. Can read properties of medicines. +4% bonus' on all laboratory Research.
Nurse	Always ready to help +1 every day (Free healing action) Can read properties of medicines
Diplomat	A good diplomat knows how to communicate effectively with extra-terrestrials. Eliminates the chance of encountering hostility from extra-terrestrials. Can declare a ceasefire once per game.
OCD	Your work is clean, very clean, getting cleaner, ever cleaner. You are genuinely obsessed by cleanliness, but this has its advantages. You will never make a mess carrying out any tasks aboard the ship

Frieda Bergmann

Main article: Frieda Bergmann.

Frieda is Humanity's most experienced astrophysicist. Her life's work has been discovering new planets and systems. She was born over 1000 years ago and is a true survivor!

Objective : "Terra Incognita" / "Exoresearcher" - Explore and approach planets. Frieda earns +2 for every planet you discover using the AstroTerminal (with diminishing returns) and +1 for flying to one.

Skill	Description
Astrophysicist	Skilled in scanning for planets in range or to determine their composition. The Planet Scan action discovers 2 zones per Analyze action. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects. Undocumented: The Scan action costs 1 less.
Pilot	An expert in manoeuvring the Icarus, Pasiphae and Patroller craft. Their aerial mastery is impressive. Has Mad Pilot Skills. Never misses landings or takeoffs. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects.
Survivalist	The Survivalist is great to have on exploration missions. They can defend themselves more effectively against extra-terrestrial life forms and generally deal with these encounters better than anyone else. Expedition : All damage is reduced by one point. Expedition : The action Provision gives one additional steak. Expedition : Last to die if a team fatality occurs.
IT Expert	The IT Expert is at home as soon as they are in front of a screen. They manipulate the nexus, navigation and communications terminals with ease. +2 per day (IT Action Points). Bonus for developing certain NERON projects. Chances of success are improved with the Hacker Kit
Radio Expert	The radio expert can decode the most complicated jumble of spatial waves in order to rebuild or send messages to the other end of the universe. Twice as effective at establishing contact with Sol. Improves the quality of teammates attempts to contact Sol by 50% when they're in the same room. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects.
Antique Perfume	Ah yesh they knew how to make real perfumesh in Fraigonard'sh boutiquesh in Nineteen Shixty Shixsh... Every time you shower, you will be immune from contaminations for 2 cycles.

Gioele Rinaldo

Main article: Gioele Rinaldo.

An eccentric billionaire, caffeine-junkie and owner of the Daedalus, his fortune is threatened by the Mush menace. He will do everything in his power to wipe it out. Not to be underestimated!

Objective : "Fear of the Mush" - Gioele earns +3 every time a Mush is killed.

Solid	You'll incur no penalties for carrying heavy objects. Also useful for hand-to-hand combat. Your hand-to-hand attacks inflict one additional damage point No penalties for carrying heavy objects. Undocumented: You can kick people out of a room.
Paranoid	The paranoid crewmember always believes their crewmates to be potentially dangerous, they always watch their back using their extra cameras. Starts out with 2 additional Cameras.
Caffeine Junkie	The caffeine junkie is twice as effective as their colleagues when they have access to the coffee machine. +2 AP when they drink a Coffee. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects
Astrophysicist	Skilled in scanning for planets in range or to determine their composition. The Planet Scan action discovers 2 zones per Analyze action. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects. Undocumented: The Scan action costs 1 less.
Panic	Seeing the Mush take over his beloved ship drives Gioele to his limits. Gives 1 and 1 in each cycle in which at least half the crew are Mush.
Victimizer	Certain well-targeted remarks can have unexpected results. For 1 , you can chastise someone. This crewmate gains Pariah status. The Pariah's actions are 20% less likely to be successful. Covert actions become Secret. If the Pariah dies and was Mush, the Victimizer earns 8 . Otherwise they lose 8 .

Ian Soulton

Main article: Ian Soulton.

A passionate and dedicated researcher whose knowledge of alien plant-life is unparalleled. A strict pacifist, he's the 'nice guy' on board.

Objective : "Naturalist" - Plant alien fruit (+3 per fruit planted in a pot)
Trait : Pacifist (all aggressive actions cost +2 when he is in the room)

Ian Soulton

Skill	Description
Botanist	Capable of distinguishing the characteristics of the various plants and fruits. They are also equally effective when maintaining the garden. Can read the fruit nutrition information. Can read plant properties.. Can carry out transplants. +2 per day (Gardening action points). Expedition: The harvest action gives an additional fruit. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects
Biologist	Highly skilled in laboratory research. Can read properties of medicines. +4% bonus on all Research in the laboratory. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects.
Mycologist	The mycologist can treat fungal infections in the Medlab or using a Medikit When you heal a crewmate, they automatically lose a spore
Green Thumb	Plants grow naturally in your presence, you only require to speak to them with a languishing gaze for them to bear beautiful fruit. Begins the game with an additional two pots. Hybrids made by the Green Thumb start with a short growth cycle.
Firefighter	The Firefighter has great experience which means they will always succeed when using the extinguisher. The Extinguish Fire action is always successful. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects.
Frugivore	You terrorize fruits, you adore them, they are your drug. When you make eye contact with a fruit, it over-ripens before you... You gain an additional 2 when you eat alien fruits, 1 for Bananas.

Janice Kent

Main article: Janice Kent.

In charge of communication in a global sense, she has highest-level access to NERON. Her solid IT and psychoanalytical skills are crucial for the voyage.

Objective : "Part-time Ethnologist" - Janice earns +3 every time you meet an extra-terrestrial creature.
Title : NERON Administrator (can access BIOS in the Nexus and use the /neron command to speak as the AI)

Janice Kent

Skill	Description
Shrink	The Shrink is in charge of psychological support. They are able to keep morale high and treat psychological illnesses. On each cycle, 1 Morale Point () is regained by everyone lying down in the room. Treats psychological illnesses. Gives the action Comfort, which increases morale. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects
IT Expert	The IT Expert is at home as soon as they are in front of a screen. They manipulate the nexus, navigation and communications terminals with ease. +2 per day (IT Action Points). Bonus for developing certain NERON projects. Chances of success are improved with the Hacker Kit
NERON's only friend	As soon as you are aboard the ship, NERON is content, its programs run without a hitch and its performance is noticeably improved. The rewards from all NEXUS research are maximized for everyone.
Diplomat	A good diplomat knows how to communicate effectively with extra-terrestrials. Eliminates the chance of encountering hostility from extra-terrestrials. Can declare a ceasefire once per game.
Radio Expert	The radio expert can decode the most complicated jumble of spatial waves in order to rebuild or send messages to the other end of the universe. Twice as effective at establishing contact with Sol. Improves the quality of teammates attempts to contact Sol by 50% when they're in the same room. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects.
Self-sacrifice	Certain particularly resilient people can withstand the unthinkable, but this comes at a cost. When your morale reaches 0, you will not die, but lose one per cycle instead.

Jiang Hua

Main article: Jiang Hua.

Chief pilot of the Daedalus, Hua specializes in exploration missions. They say she can land where she wants, when she wants, and in any conditions you care to dream up.

Objective : "Explorer" - Hua gets an an extra +3 every time she goes on an expedition.

Kim Jin Su

Main article: Kim Jin Su.

A born leader, Jin Su is the supreme commander of the Daedalus. He is in charge of piloting the ship. - Towards planets for expeditions and, most importantly, towards Eden.

Objective : "Fast Forward" - Move Daedalus to planets, move to Eden. Jin Su earns +3 for every such voyage carried out under your command (with diminishing returns after +6 ).

Title : Commander (can access the Command Console on the Bridge and issue orders)

Kim Jin Su

Leader	A charismatic leader knows how to effectively lead a team and increase morale using powerful, passionate speeches. Gives the action Motivational Speech which increases the Morale () of your crewmates.

Cold Blooded	In space, anything can and does happen. Knowing how to keep calm is extremely useful. Earns 3 AP every time a team mate dies.
Shooter	At ease handling all kinds of weapons +2 Free Shots per day. Your off-target shots cause 2 times fewer accidents. Your successful shots cause 2 times as many critical hits. Bonus : +1 to expedition combat strength. Bonus for developing certain NERON projects.
Logistics Expert	You personally oversee the organisation of every task aboard the Daedalus in order to maximize the efficiency of every one of your teammates. Every cycle, 1 is given randomly to a crewmate in the same room as you.
Strateguru	After displaying a certain degree of megalomania, it can be mistaken for talent. You are an expert in intergalactic warfare, but everyone thinks you're crazy. 50% of chance of reducing each wave of Hunters by 33%.

Lai Kuan Ti

An astrophycisist and the ship's designer, Kuan Ti knows it like the back of his hand and has privileged access to NERON. If a Nexus project is underway, you can be sure he is involved!

Objective: "Magellan Ark" - Kuan Ti earns +2 for every Nexus project taken to completion.

Raluca Tomescu

Quantum Physics genius, her vast skillset renders her indispensable on board. Some say her tears are flammable and that she once kicked a giraffe to death. All we know is that she's called Raluca.

Objective : "Mother" - Raluca earns +2 for every 20% of the PILGRED repairs successfully completed.
Trait : Antisocial (cannot flirt, and loses 1 if anyone else is in the same room as her during cycle changeover). Does not occur when Mush.

Raluca Tomescu

Skill	Description
Physicist	The Physicist is a high flier in the field of physics research. Their understanding of quantum mechanics and even the essence of the strings that make up our universe is their major talent. Detached Crewmember	The unconcerned crewmember is cold, hard, and unfeeling. They are unaffected by deaths of teammates. You lose no Morale Points () when a crewmember dies. Zero risk of psychological illness if you witness a death.

Genius	When divinely enlighted by the flame of consciousness, the genius can find a solution to any problem encountered aboard the Daedalus. The genius can carry out one piece of Resarch, one Project, or one Repair once per game.
Designer	Has access to NERON's core twice per day (Free Actions). +2 per day (NERON project action points). Bonus for developing certain NERON projects

Roland Zuccali

Main article: Roland Zuccali.

Roland is a brilliant pilot who is not nearly as funny as he thinks he is. However, his dogfighting skills are no laughing matter. He's got a gift, and he's never happier than when he's shooting down Hunters.

Objective : "Flying Nemesis" - Kill a Hunter in a patroller or turret (+1 per hunter, with diminishing returns)

Skill	Description
Sprinter	The Sprinter always puts their best foot forward! They get additional Movement Points. You earn an additional 2 every time you convert - (Does not stack with Anti-Grav Scooter). Expeditions involving a Sprinter will allow an additional planetary zone to be explored

Stephen Seagull

The most dangerous cook in the galaxy is on board. He has more black-belts than pairs of trousers and he collects roadkill. Alien flesh is like catnip to Stephen. We thought you should know.

Objective : "Ambitious" / "Extreme Chef" - Stephen gets +4 for any titles earned (for the first time) and +2 for fights with alien creatures.

Stephen Seagull

Skill	Description
Chef	Formidable when it comes to knocking meals together. They also have an impressive awareness of what you should eat. Can read the food nutrition information. Can read the fruit nutrition information. +4 per day (Cook action points). Bonus for developing certain NERON projects.

Creative	Sometimes you need to think outside the box Every time you fail in an attempt to do something, there is a 50% chance of regaining 1 .

Terrence Archer

Don't be fooled by his appearance, Terrence is amongst the most agile crew members, albeit mentally. Next-generation robotics and UAVs are his bread and butter.

Objective : "Robotic Grail" - Upgrade your drones (+4 )
Trait : Handicapped (-2 penalty when converting to , but leaving a room with someone else present costs no )

Metalworker	It seems pretty clear that you're a really productive person. Daily if you find yourself in a Warehouse, you have a chance of finding scraps or better for 0 .

Wang Chao

Main article: Wang Chao.

Hyperactive head of the security team, Chao insists that sleep is for the weak. A trigger happy lunatic, the story goes that he once tore a man's arms off for suggesting his choice of weaponry was 'a bit camp'...

Objective : "Psy-Chao-path" - Kill anyone, including Schrödinger (+3 )
Trait : Hyperactive (sleeping in a bed grants no additional , however Chao gains an extra each cycle)

Wang Chao

Skill	Description

Torturer	The torturer knows all the pressure points and most sensitive areas with which they can convey their most important message... "You WILL talk." Enables the Torture action.
Crazy Eye	There is no way to take you by surprise. You foresee all attacks from your enemies as well as those from your so-called allies. All aggressive actions targeting you cost an additional 2
Intimidating	When Chao stares at them with bloodlust in his eyes, even Mush can become paralyzed with fear. Spend 1 to intimidate another crewmember, who will lose 2 and 4 .

Zhong Chun

Main article: Zhong Chun.

Our last hope. She must survive and make the journey to Eden. She inspires the crew to achieve more, and when misfortune befalls her comrades she is always there to patch them up.

Objective : "Chun Lives!" / "The Precious" - Survive (+1 each day), and help research the Mush (+4 for each research completed that requires your presence).
Trait : Immunized (immune to Mush and unlocks certain laboratory research)

Zhong Chun

Skill	Description
Mankind's only hope	Her unique immune system makes her the last hope for humanity. As long as she stays alive, we'll have a shot at combating the Mush invasion Daily morale loss is reduced by 1 point
Nurse	Always ready to help +1 every day (Free healing action) Can read properties of medicines
Premonition	Your intuition never fails, you can see the most recent activities of a teammate in the form of a vivid flashback. It's practical, but gives you a monster headache! You can see the last action of a teammate. This action costs you one .
Sneak	You are of a fearful nature and you instinctively know how to make yourself scarce in order to avoid any and all attempts at physical contact. Hand-to-hand attacks are subject to a 25% penalty. You can move around freely regardless of how many Guards there are in the room.
Lethargy	You're only awake for 4h per day, but even in that short time, you can achieve miracles! You will restore 3 every consecutive cycle in bed after you've slept for at least 4 cycles in a row. The maximum in your gauge is doubled.
