Spores are specific resources produced by the
Mush. They are mainly used to convert a human character to the Mush.
Creation
The only way for a
Mush to create a spore is via the basic mush actions . All mush have this action available and no skill is required to unlock it.
The cost becomes 4
when
Constipaspore Serum is completed. On the other hand, a
Fertile mush can produce one spore per day for free.
The entire mush team can produce a total of 4 spores each day (which is reduced to 2 by
Antispore Gas and increased by 1 with
Mycelium Spirit).
Performing this action requires a particular care. It is a
Secret action and can therefore be seen by other people and cameras in the room. Moreover, this always makes the mush
Dirty, even when wearing the Stainproof Apron.
Usage
Attaching a spore
There are a number of ways that a
Mush can attach a spore to a human (or spike).
- , a basic Mush action
- Schrödinger can be infected and will transfer a spore to anyone that gets scratched. (The same person can be spored by Schrödinger more than once if they get injured multiple times.) Cuddling does not transfer spores.
-
Fungal Kitchen (requires
Mush 1), a skill that spikes a consumable item with a spore, infecting the character who consumes it.
-
Trapper (requires
Mush 5), a skill which places a spore in the current room, transferring it to the next character that performs any room action.
- "Doing it" An action that is intended to raise morale, but can get spored if you are doing it with a
Mush.
Apart from the above, a human may also get spored when they are on Expeditions and travel through Cristalite zones which have a chance to infect all traveling characters with a spore.
Other use
Skills
Phagocyte,
Transfer,
Massive Mushification,
TODO: etc? enable actions requiering a spore.
Carrying Spores
Each mush can carry a maximum of 2 spores at any time.
A Mush can know the contamination level of any character in the same room (the number of spores they carry). A notification is also given in the Mush Chanel each time a human becomes infected by an additional spore.
Humans know whether they are infected by researching
Mycoscan. The
Mycologist removes a spore any time he Heals another character. Finally, the
Spore Sucker both tells whether the target character is infected, and removes one spore.
Conversion
As soon as a human is infected by 3 spores, he becomes a
Mush. The limit is raised to 4 with
Mushovore Bacteria.
The ship's crew log is also immediately updated. However, no notification is given: if any Mush becomes
Anonymush quickly enough, the crew bar will look as it was before the conversion, and there are good chances that no human notices the flickering.

In this next example, the humans have finished the Mushovore Bacteria research and 4 spores are now required for a conversion.
