The BIOS screen when accessed by the NERON Admin

Accessed at the BIOS Terminal located in the Nexus, this is where the NERON Admin performs his or her duties. The initial NERON Admin is Janice.

Foodstuff Destruction
Defaults to 'Yes'. When activated, any spoilt food will vanish at the start of a new day, preventing the risk of diseases but losing the Action Point it would have given (which for Icon Cooked Rations is more than it takes to heal, even if they do cause a disease). It may also destroy Alien Fruit you bring from expeditions before you get to plant them.
CPU Priority
Defaults to 'None' (Does nothing). When set to Research or Project, every contribution will add an additional 1%, which is useful when researching the Plasma Shield or Retro-Fungal Serum with untrained people. When set to Astronavigation, one extra zone will be revealed with every scan, which is a 100% boost for non-astrophysicists.
Obviously, an admin who can always switch this setting to whatever is being done at the time would be most effective. Realistically though, it is wise to mostly leave this on Astronavigation where it helps the most.
Plasma Shield
Defaults to 'Inactive'. When set to Active, the Plasma Shield will start working, so this is obviously something a (human) admin should do asap. Note that this option only appears when the corresponding project is completed.
Crew Lock
Defaults to 'Piloting'. When set to Project, only Designers can use the NERON terminals. When set to Research, only Biologists and Medics can use the Research Lab. When set to Piloting, only Pilots can make use of the various patrol ships, the Icarus and the Pasiphae.
Only switch this away from piloting when you really need a non-pilot to fly (danger of damage to his ship, the hull, and himself) or if you want a non-pilot to start the Icarus (which is OK as long as there is a pilot in the team).
Vocoder Announcement
Defaults to 'Unauthorized'. When enabled, allows the Admin to speak as NERON via the /neron chat command. A fun RP command, it can also be used to falsify the various NERON reports.
Report Deaths
Defaults to 'Yes'. Causes NERON to automatically announce when a crew member dies.
This is usually always on, unless the Mush turned it off in order to obscure a murder (the little crew icons will still show the dead people).
Inhibit DMZ-CorePeace
Defaults to 'Yes'. When enabled, only Mush are able to use Grenades. Mostly protects from griefers.
Magnetic Net
Defaults to 'Yes'. When enabled, Magnetic Net works. This option only appears when the corresponding project is completed.
Same as with the Plasma Shield - except that you may want to turn it off in order to intentionally leave someone behind.
