Jumpkin are fruits produced by each adult
Bumpjunkin at the beginning of Cycle 1, provided that it is not
Diseased,
Thirsty or
Dried Out.
A Jumpkin can be consumed and gives 3
, 1
, 1
and 0 satisfaction.
- Due to the 0 satisfaction and the ammount of
given when consumed, it is a great plant to eat on handfuls if you need a lot of energy suddendly. It doesn't stop hunger though, so keep some
Standard Rations on hand for later days.
- Eating them will also cause you to contract
Junkbumpkinitis, an illness with no negative effects, that will make your head look like a Pumpkin for the other crewmembers
A Jumpkin can also be planted in an empty
HydroPot: it will immediately create a
Young Bumpjunkin, which will quickly grow and make its own daily production.
On long running ships with plenty of Bumpjunkin plants is where a
Frugivore
Ian really shines. He gets 5
per eaten Jumpkin, and just with the base pots onboard and
Extra Hydropots researched they will have 8 HydroPots, which means 8 Jumpkin = +40
a day, enough for him to research, relay, and repair everything. Despite of this, he is expected to share with
Janice Kent some of the Jumpkin due to the lack of characters to raise her
.
As all other perishable consumables, if the FoodStuff Destruction setting on the BIOS is turned ON, the Jumpkins will be destroyed on day change (as with all other fruits, they are produced after NERON destroys the food from the day before). Given the importance of this fruits, keep this setting always OFF.
