Do we really need the skill names on these? Where it's not N/A, most of them are simply a repeat of the action column. It's almost like an information overload. Also, I really want to avoid bold black text inside the tables as much as possible, reserving it for where it's mimicking in-game text or absolutely necessary because it clashes with the column headers imo. - I'd agree; to me it seems like writing "Skill Required:
Slimetrap" and then writing Using Slimetrap in the field next to that is over the top. Actions which have different results based on whether you not you have a skill can have separate rows (like "Removing a camera (with
Nimble Fingers)" and "Removing a camera (without
Nimble Fingers)". Last but not least, the column for the
Mush icon also seems unnecessary, since you can see it's a Mush action by the color of the Skill icon most of the time, and where it isn't, you can add the Mush icon in the Action column itself. Ividyon (talk) 22:40, 19 December 2013 (MST)
- There are lots of Actions that don't have the same name as skills. The Mush advanced skills I have no idea what the actions are called, that's why I just left them as "Use Skillname". We probably should change those to "TODO". Some example of skills without obvious corresponding action...Fungal Kitchen -> Contaminate, Leader -> Speech, Shrink -> Comfort, etc. These are things that makes me believe that in the long run, separating skill from action will save us a lot of headaches...especially considering we haven't added many skill-based actions in, yet. When a new user wants to find out what "Contaminate" is, this page will tell them it's part of their Fungal Kitchen skill. As for the Mush Icon, I like it there because it aligns the names. - I don't think that we specifically need to use the same action name, merely describe what action it's meant to be. Any in-game actions can be printed in bold, but anything else can be written in regular text, clarifying what is the action name and what isn't. To me, this:
Action Room Log Notes Consume an object (Rations, fruit, coffee, pills etc.) Template:NoteWarn Extract oxygen or fuel from the tanks Template:NoteWarn Hide an object Template:NoteWarn
Mush: Extract Spore [Mush] has removed a spore. It's truly repulsive. And the smell...
Mush: Sabotage ship equipment Template:NoteWarn
Pyromaniac: Start a fire Template:NoteWarn
Trapper: Booby-Trap Unit [Trapper] seemed to have suspiciously slipped something onto [trapped object].
- is preferable to this:
Skill Required Action Room Log Notes N/A Eating food Template:NoteWarn N/A Drinking coffee Template:NoteWarn N/A Eating a pill Template:NoteWarn N/A Extracting oxygen or fuel from the tanks Template:NoteWarn N/A Hiding an object Template:NoteWarn
N/A Use Extract Spore [Mush] has removed a spore. It's truly repulsive. And the smell...
N/A Use Sabotage Template:NoteWarn
Pyromaniac Use
