Space, I think Peri-Game should be changed to Meta Game. Peri-Game doesn't make sense and I've never heard it used as a term in English. Pretty sure the categories refer to the game universe outside of the game itself which is defined as meta game. Additionally shouldn't rumors be Myths, and the content be debunking common myths and misconceptions? Only reason I ask instead of doing it myself is because you disabled front page editing since you didn't like Calib's contributions Vector (talk) 11:01, 3 December 2013 (MST)

I suppose I could change it. I just *hate* the overuse of "meta" and what it has come to mean... though I guess appropriate enough in this case. (And I did debate this when creating the page. "peri" refers to "surrounding" which by meaning of the word is more accurate, though far less used and probably not understood by many.
I like "rumors" as the header instead of myths but yes the content of the page should absolutely be dedicated to debunking them. I'm open to changing it to myths if there's a good reason...
And I wish Calib had been the first to drastically change the front page... once we get the information online, I'll work on getting a look and feel going and see what needs to be changed and where.

So I just noticed the Nils character on the Image Gallery. Did I just inadvertently stumble upon the hidden character in the works? Vector (talk) 11:00, 2 December 2013 (MST)

Nah, Nils is one of the people back at Sol that Paola makes contact with. Never did notice there's an icon for him though lol Spacekadt (talk) 11:15, 2 December 2013 (MST)

Hi Spacey. I like you, because you're pretty much awesome. Also, I can't sleep. Not that that's related to why I like you, but it does remind me of you. Rain (talk) 00:09, 12 November 2013 (MST)

Front altered

Why did you undo the front change? All the information is still there, it's just neat and orderly!

It was a major navigational upgrade by moving everything over to hubs which will give information and can be used to host links. It also encourages small pages to be merged into larger ones for easier navigation. For example, would you want to click six two paragraph pages or read just one?

I sent you a twinoid message explaining why, but I emulated the french version because it was much easier to find the information. At least for now, it makes it a million times easier to figure out what needs updating/creating and what's there and at least acceptable. I've got your code saved in case we want to put it or some version of it back, but for now, I really want to keep the front page as it is. Spacekadt (talk) 20:18, 27 November 2013 (MST)
Oh! I just saw the message. Actually, my version will be easier for newbies as it walks them through the game without being faced with lots of random unrelated stuff. For example, if the newbie wants to know what character to pick and what each character does they would hit "characters" instead of being faced with a wall of links.
The pages/informations from the old front page that are still needed are currently listed at the top of each major hub page for convenience. I made them links if the pages already existed. I actually already moved a lot of information into appropriate pages. The Basics page shows a lot of good stuff so far as an example of what I had in mind.
You can undo your own edit by going under "history" and hitting "undo". It's fast and easy.--Calib (talk) 20:27, 27 November 2013 (MST)
I've asked a few people what's easier for them and which version they preferred. Of the 6 responses I got, only 1 really preferred the new way.
The basics page is great as a lead in to other information, but I really want a one-stop-shopping type of main page that's easier to see exactly what I want to view and is less digging around for information. I *know* the game and it took me a minute to even figure out where to look for the sections I was currently working on (various astro-nav pages). The basics page would be something that should probably be linked where "Advice" currently is located on the main page and of course, changed to "Basics". I have no problems having "hubs" for information linked from the main page, but I don't want it to only be hubs. I want people to be able to go *directly* to where they want to go with as few clicks as possible.
Well, then how about hubs on the main page then the portal as the full directory of links? This way the newbies who have never been here are likely to find the hubs instead of getting lost in a sea of links, but people looking for specific pages can hit the "community portal" (big link list). Just put a link to the portal (big link list) on the same page as the buttons for the hubs as something like "If you're looking for a specific topic, try the portal".
In a nutshell, like what we have but flipped and with one extra link on the hubs directory page.--Calib (talk) 21:40, 27 November 2013 (MST)
I really don't want the portals. As a person new to Mush, the French wiki was *perfect* for what I wanted. I got the gist of the game through playing, but I'd go to the wiki when I wanted something specific. The way it's set up is the way most people use the wiki for a game like this. I've had multiple people at this point tell me that if they saw that hub setup, they'd close it and forget that the site exists, and honestly, I'd do the same. I just really don't want a hub type of setup like that.
As far as the look and feel of the site, I'm aiming for something similar to the d2n wiki with the front page similar to what I have set up now. http://die2nitewiki.com/wiki/Home is a good example of a page that has a bunch of tables with organized information and the bottom of http://die2nitewiki.com/wiki/Twisted_Plank is what I'd eventually like to have for the bottom of individual pages with links to appropriate places. But again, before we get to the pretty and organizing, I want the *information* there first. I don't care if users come to an ugly wiki, as long as it has the information they're looking for and it's easy to find.

Switches and stuff

Why don't these work on here? I'd like to make a template that displays different things depending on what {{{1}}} is. For example, {{skill|shrink}} would display Shrink.pngShrink, and {{skill|hope}}, {{skill|onlyhope}}, or {{skill|mankind'sonlyhope}} would show Mankind's only hope.pngMankind's only hope.
