This is the Mushpedia's General Discussion page, where you can discuss general wiki matters. Discussions regarding specific articles should be held in their respective talk pages. (Example: Talk:Actions for Actions)
IRC Chatroom
There are two chatrooms that you can join for all things Mush!
Mushpedia Chat
Mushpedia now has an official IRC discussion channel and generally only deals with wiki information:
Server: irc.synirc.net
Channel: #mushpedia
You can use the above information to connect to it using your favorite IRC client, or use the Mibbit web applet for fast access:
Webchat Link: Mibbit link to #mushpedia
General Mush Chat
The General Mush Chat is a fairly active channel where people hang out and talk about their ships, ask questions and just plain socialize:
Server: irc.mibbit.net
Channel: #mush-EN
Webchat Link: Mibbit link to #mush-EN

To-do list?
The pages "incomplete article/articles missing information" are rather difficult to use (the majority of the todos need some very specific info to be filled). So I could do with a more concise list. For now, I can see the following:
- Uniform format for skill pages
- This is quite good already, but some pages are still missing details about their action. Also, I'd like to use a section "New action(s)", rather than putting new actions in "general effects"
- The same for items.
- Doing for equipment the same as for items. (1 per page, with factual data automatically copied from each page to the big equipment list.)
- I cannot set-up myself the same template system as for items, but I can set-up a different one which I'd understand.
- This is still a bit vague, but some page gathering links to other pages with tips and advice. This could be seen as the "table of contents" of the tutorial part of the site.
- Some more precise todo system which would distinguish between pages missing basic information/missing expert information/needing some style improvement/ needing some tips/etc.
So... I think I'll eventualy try to do all of this, but comments would be great first :) Edfel (talk) 01:52, 27 June 2014 (MDT)
Listing cycle change events
I am starting a page Events at Cycle Change with the aims of
- enumerating everything that can happen to anyone or anything at cycle (or day) change
- listing how and when events are announced
- specifying the order of the events, when that matters (do the sprinklers extinguish a fire before or after it deals damages?)
It can be seen as a complement to Actions or Privacy Levels. I am rather new to mush, so I can only gather information that is already on the wiki, and I can miss some. Any help to remove the question marks is welcome! Edfel (talk) 13:25, 10 June 2014 (MDT)
- The page should be complete enough to be linked to. From the main page? From somewhere else? Edfel (talk) 02:35, 12 June 2014 (MDT)
Preservation vs. Cleanup
About this http://mushpedia.com/index.php?title=Talk:Gardening&curid=50&diff=9838&oldid=9834
I did consider Ivydion's point, but decided that this specific issue was resolved and would definitely not come up again. Do we want to keep all the outdated talks no matter what? - Vio (talk) 07:11, 30 May 2014 (MDT)
- My take on this is that discussion pages aren't exactly hard-pressed for space, and with proper section marking there's not really any need for 'clean-up'. In fact, rich discussion pages make the site seem more alive. — ividyon (talk) 07:37, 30 May 2014 (MDT)
Distinctions vs Twinoid Rewards
I really want to change that page back to Distinctions since that seems to be how most of the English communities refer to the accomplishments/icons that are earned in game. French tend to call them pictos, but I've not heard them referred to as "Twinoid Rewards" before and I'm not sure most people will assume that's what it is. However, I know it may just be a bias that d2n has drilled into my head so I'd like feedback before making that change. Anyone else have thoughts on that? Spacekadt (talk) 00:45, 28 December 2013 (MST)
- Oh yeah, I never did respond to this; I mainly changed it because I never read the word "distinctions" used on english Twinoid before (being new to MT games) and it sounded to me like a remainder from Twinpedia, since it's a rather French word. Of course I was wrong, so your change was correct! — ividyon (talk) 22:33, 13 January 2014 (MST)
Terminology
A thought that's been on my mind for a while now: how do we call room and inventory objects? My suggestion would be "item" for carried objects and "equipment" for interactive ship objects. Thoughts? — ividyon (talk) 02:46, 25 December 2013 (MST)
- I've done so with equipment so far (though I defined it to make sure what's meant) and agree with your suggestion. Tatsukishi (talk) 09:11, 25 December 2013 (MST)
Work distribution
Hey guys/girls, do we plan to distribute some of the work to be done here, or we just tackle random things? I'm asking because I wouldn't want to work on something that someone else already started doing but didn't upload yet. --Rumata (talk) 05:20, 11 November 2013 (MST)
- I guess if you're working on something but haven't uploaded it yet, it's best if you note it in the Discussion page of the article to avoid complications. Otherwise, you might as well edit and correct things at random if you ask me. Germz (talk) 09:51, 20 November 2013 (MST)
- I've considered that, rumata. I don't want to "assign" things to people, but it wouldn't be bad to edit the page with something like "spacey is working on this and update coming within the hour/day/whatever". Doesn't matter to me that the page suddenly looks like it exists... it's probably better because then it's not so obvious that someone *needs* to work on it - Spacekadt (talk) 00:40, 21 November 2013 (MST)
I really don't want people to have to dig through multiple levels to find information. I'm all for making things prettier, but I really do like how french wiki is set up that almost everything is accessible with one click from the main page. Spacekadt (talk) 17:37, 27 November 2013 (MST)
- I agree that having good navigation on the front page is a goal worth aiming for. I also agree that an "I'm working on this." warning on the top of the page should be enough for any of us to back off and avoid duplicating work. Doram (talk) 18:29, 15 December 2013 (MST)
Daedalus Map
I want to suggest adding the point "Map" under Daedalus. Could be very helpful if you had to drop your map to see where to go and how much MP you need. Tatsukishi (talk) 05:22, 2 December 2013 (MST)
- I need to find the map I uploaded, but that's a really good idea. I'll add it when I find it and get a moment. Spacekadt (talk)
- I updated the Image with numbers for the rooms and added a Table for the names and relevant equipment. Tatsukishi (talk) 10:47, 15 December 2013 (MST)
We (Delzoup and me) would like to make the rooms on the map clickable (leading to the Ship Equipment page) with an ImageMap, which requires a plugin. Can an admin activate it please? "Guide" - Tatsukishi (talk) 14:35, 19 December 2013 (MST)
Mush Universe Info
I wanted to suggest that getting some more general info on the fictional Mush universe would be both very cool for fans, as well as useful for serious RP gamers. Perhaps a new category, and maybe reorganizing a few pages to support the concept. What do you all think? Doram (talk) 18:29, 15 December 2013 (MST)
- I agree! I would eventually like to create the Daedalus, Magellan project, Nils Carlsson pages etc. for that kind of information. We should treat Mushpedia less as a bunch of guides and game information, but rather as a complete encyclopedia on all things Mush. — ividyon (talk) 00:03, 22 December 2013 (MST)
Exactly!! Doram (talk) 15:25, 22 December 2013 (MST)
Wiki design
I would very much like to edit the wiki's design to style it after the Mush site. Would you be willing to help me out with this? (Grant me necessary privileges or, at least, access to the relevant files like CSS etc.) — ividyon (talk) 17:29, 10 December 2013 (MST)
- What kind of vision do you have in mind? I found a wiki layout that I like a LOT and would like to emulate as far as the navigation goes. I have *some* ideas for what to do with the main page, but I'm not entirely sold on it. Are you ever in IRC that we can chat about what you want to do? Spacekadt (talk)
- It seems that the creators demand that fan sites do not emulate the looks of the original site (to avoid player confusion, making them believe it's an official resource), which kind of killed my enthusiasm. — ividyon (talk) 03:41, 16 December 2013 (MST)
- I`m kinda in! We could make our own layout - in the same style - but not the same as Mush site. I could help with CSS or graphics - graphics more likely. What do You say? I could make some template projects to show You but first of all We should really get on irc Kloonej (talk) 05:30, 22 December 2013 (MST)
- I sit to work inspired this talk. I hadn`t much time to operate but start with something like this: http://i.imgur.com/HJrFjKy.png it`s only basic idea and it`s completely not scaled, undeveloped, unpolished, and every other un... But it explains My idea of wiki design. I`m trying to be mush like, but same time avoid any twinoid (c)). It`s better to leave it for content. As it`s a sort of proof of concept of course everything is subject to change. Kloonej (talk) 10:43, 22 December 2013 (MST)
- I have some ideas already for what I want to do. First, I'm in love with the TMBG wiki at http://tmbw.net/wiki/Main_Page and want the general navigation setup to be similar to that. It's going to take a lot of CSS work, though, and I don't know the first thing about it.
- I don't really want to change the logo - with the possible exception of the white area around "MUSH" becoming transparent, depending on what happens with a background.
- I created #mushpedia on the synirc server since ividyon and I are already on that server. Anyone interested in helping with content, design, css or whatever else is more than welcome to drop by, hang out, be idle... whatever! :) Spacekadt (talk) 12:22, 22 December 2013 (MST)
- Ok, I get it. I can start work with such theme afrer holidays. Will catch You at irc in forthcoming days to talk details up. This one look pretty nice. Just before We leave My work latest update: http://i.imgur.com/3MxbmSR.jpg - trashing it. Kloonej (talk) 14:30, 22 December 2013 (MST)
- I like a lot of what you are proposing. I'm pretty good with the CSS and graphics as well, so if you need any help, let me know. By the way, if we are going to be getting together on IRC and stuff, maybe we should flesh out the Community Portal page with some info about how we are getting together. Doram (talk) 15:25, 22 December 2013 (MST)
- there's a link to the irc channel on the main page now. last link in the last column. and holy crap, good with css is definitely needed. I think the few that are working on actual css stuff are kinda hacking their way through and I really don't know jack about it at all. Spacekadt (talk) 15:33, 22 December 2013 (MST)
- I`m trashing it as 'general idea' I`m trying to never get rid of My work, until it scares. Planet making is My patent and I can make You whole galaxies, I think that one is fine just need it to be polished a bit. I will get to You on irc as fast as can get to work. Preferable after xmass. But will be in touch here. I was working with CSS, did some sites in past. Preferably little refresh could be helpful but Doram You probably get CSS manager title on this trip :).Kloonej (talk) 02:23, 23 December 2013 (MST)

spacey's css "fun"
Throwing another header in here so it's easier to link to. After a lot of digging and a lot of help, I finally got *most* of the css figured out for what needs to change eventually.
I still really like the setup of the TMBG wiki linked above and I still want to move to that type of navigation, but for now, here's what I've thrown together in my own monobook.css file: http://www.spacekadt.com/20131231104714222.png - if you want to play with the code, you can go to User:Spacekadt/monobook.css and copy the code into your own user subpage. (it's worth noting that I have tons of shit commented out that I wasn't sure if I'd use or not or whatever.
If you want to create your own design type sandbox make a monobook.css subpage from your userpage. That will override the main wiki settings and show you the contents of your own css when you're logged in from any browser.
I'm not absolutely married to the background file or to the colors... I mostly wanted to get something mostly legible there so I could keep it and know what needed to be changed. BUT it is similar to what I was envisioning for the wiki. I'd love more visual aspects in the areas of the background that can actually be seen... at least by those of us on widescreen laptops.
And I still need to figure out that damned footer. I'd love something less obnoxious if anyone has the time or desire to figure out how to make it look better.
So yeah. It's a start. Ideas? Spacekadt (talk) 03:58, 31 December 2013 (MST)
French Wiki
What is the opinion of the group on translating the info on the Twinpedia section for Mush? Good idea? Not allowed? I'm willing to spend some time copying and cleaning up Google's uneducated guesswork with the actual English game terms. Doram (talk) 09:28, 17 December 2013 (MST)
- I don't mind it as placeholder text and it's definitely been done for some pages and some info. But my ultimate goal is that we rely on our own knowledge since they have a season change under their belt and they may have some differences in the game. Spacekadt (talk)
Template Cleanup
There are a number of duplicate templates in there, and some of the simple individual templates could work better when combined into a more complex one. Whoever is interested and has the time should look at it, I think. Doram (talk) 10:51, 21 December 2013 (MST)
- If you give me some estimate pointers on what you're talking about, I'll get right on it! — ividyon (talk) 10:56, 21 December 2013 (MST)
- Check this page: http://mushpedia.com/index.php?title=Special%3AAllPages&from=&to=&namespace=10 And take a look. There's Template:AP and Template:Ap and Template:MP and Template:Mp, etc. Also, there are multiple character icon templates. We could consolidate and make more complex replacements. Possibly modifying the most recent Template:Character to include being able to produce not just the small icons, but also the full body icons, character portraits, etc. Also, we have skills, but we could also have another "Interface" icons template with stuff like oxygen, fuel, live/dead/mush icons from the top-right, and possibly another template to catch all the statuses. Doram (talk) 12:12, 21 December 2013 (MST)
- I've done some major cleanup work as you said and listed all usable and up-to-date templates in the Category:Useful Templates page, which is now also linked on the Main Page. I hope this is a good start! And yes, "interface" icons like Fuel and Oxygen are definitely something I had planned, just didn't do yet, and you can even add them yourself based on the Morale/MP templates if you have the time! — ividyon (talk) 09:13, 22 December 2013 (MST)
- It looks like you got a lot of great work done. Thank you. I was wondering if there was any difference between MP and Mp and stuff like that, and if not, then we can delete the duplicates. Doram (talk) 15:25, 22 December 2013 (MST)
- Mp and Ap are for laziness, when people would rather write {{ap}} or {{Ap}} instead of {{AP}}. Personally I don't do that, always capitalizing, and I don't have any issues with removing those, but other users might find them useful.
- The same goes for templates like {{Secret}} and {{Covert}}, by the way; technically you can just use {{Privacy|Covert}} etc, but I added those redirect templates so that editors have less of a hassle writing their articles. We might even do the same for {{Chun}}, {{Zhong Chun}}, {{Astrophysicist}} etc etc., but I'd like to hear opinions about that first. — ividyon (talk) 02:33, 23 December 2013 (MST)
Ship page need to be categorized
Hello I`m working on Ship page which consist of all data and reference about Daedalus (history, ship maps, overview, rooms content etc) but I don`t know how to bind it to category and list it on wiki Main page. Any help will be appreciated. Kloonej (talk) 03:41, 22 December 2013 (MST)
- Awesome! Main Page stuff is done by admins like Spacekadt and I. I may rename your article at some point so that it has a better-fitting title for the main page, but I definitely think it's a good idea and we need to fuse the Map article into it! — ividyon (talk) 09:11, 22 December 2013 (MST)
IRC Chatroom Link
Linking it directly to mibbit webchat has some pros and cons. While it is easier for peoples to join the irc channel, for users who prefers other irc clients might find it a bit harder to configure.
I suggest making a page, with a simple link to the mibbit irc web client, and a table consisting of the irc channel details ( server, port, channel, and irc:// link ) EdgyVenison (talk) 15:51, 22 December 2013 (MST)
- I find it kinda questionable that someone advanced enough to have their own IRC client wouldn't know how to read the channel details off the Mibbit page the link refers to, but still, point taken! The chatroom details can be found on this page now. — ividyon (talk) 03:35, 23 December 2013 (MST)
- We also have the #mush-en channel at mibbit, should we add it too? EdgyVenison (talk) 16:10, 23 December 2013 (MST)
Easter-Eggs
Just added the page Post-It notes to collect the random occuring texts on those. Maybe we should make an Easter-Egg collection page under the category "others"? Tatsukishi (talk) 20:33, 31 December 2013 (MST)
- Post It Notes don't have anything on them by default and only have what people write there (and then drop into the room). Spacekadt (talk) 21:25, 13 January 2014 (MST)
Game Modes, Gold Mode, Game Basics etc
Somebody needs to take on the following pages/sections to merge/clean the information up:
And the "Game Modes" link probably needs to go from the main page, too. For some reason I can't muster the motivation to sort these things out, would anyone else? — ividyon (talk) 14:58, 25 January 2014 (MST)
